Cream of wheat can be made in all kind of flavors, this is just one of many versions i make. It’s rich and creamy, spiced up and very easy to make. Enjoy your cream of wheat as a warm breakfast or like often done in Germany, as a sweet main menu.
What you need:
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup of heavy cream
3 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1 cup wheat semolina ( farina)
1 star anis
1 vanilla bean, or 1/2 tsp of vanilla paste
4-6 tbsp agave nectar ( optional)
cinnamon sugar mix (to sprinkle over the cream of wheat)
Heat the milk, heavy cream and the spices over medium heat, and let it come to a simmer. Once brought to a simmer, add your semolina and stir it with a whisk until all is well combined and the milk has no lumps in it. Add the agave nectar, sweet it to your liking. Cook and keep stirring the cream of wheat until it’s thicken up, but still yet pourable (about 5-7 min) or until you liking. Take the spices out and fill the cream of wheat into your serving bowls, sprinkle each bowl with your cinnamon and sugar and add flakes of butter in the center of your cream of wheat.
