This is my version of this easy but yet very delicious popular Japanese dish. It makes a great appetizer. Serve it with crab chips or a salad.
What you need:
2 pound rib eye or fillet beef ( it should be at room temperature)
2 tbsp peanut oil
sea salt
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tbsp lime juice
1 large garlic, pressed
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
4 tbsp freshly chopped coriander
chilli powder to sprinkle
1/2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 red onion, finely sliced
Preheat a frying pan on very high heat (close to smoking point). Season the beef on all sides with the sea salt. Add the peanut oil and 1 tbsp sesame oil to the pan. Sear the beef over high heat, about 3 to 4 minutes per side (make sure to keep the center rare). Let the beef rest for 10 minutes, then slice the meat with a sharp knife very thin and arrange it on to a large platter. Mix all other ingredients together in to a bowl, mix until all is well combined. Pour the marinade over the beef. Sprinkle some chilli powder over the beef, and serve.
Enjoy 🙂
