The Cinnamon in the tomatoe sauce along with the other herbs, makes this pasta dish so seductive. This dish is incredibly delicious and will be a family favorite in no time!
What you need:
1 pack Spaghetti
2 slices of sandwich bread
1/2 pound of ground beef
1/2 pound raw italian sausages, skinned peeled off
3 garlic cloves
1 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp. dried rosemary, finely chopped
5 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
handful of fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
2-16 oz can of crushed, unsalted tomatoes
1 tbsp tomatoes paste
pinch of sugar
salt & black pepper
Soak the bread slices in cold water for about 5 min. In a large bowl, add the ground beef and italian sausages. Finely chop 1/2 of the onion, 2 garlic cloves, and add it to your meats. Take you bread slices and squeeze as much water out as possible. Add the bread, egg, 1 tsp rosemary, oregano, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 black pepper to your meat. With your hands mix all well together, so you will have a lovely meat dough. Heat up 3 tbsp olive oil in a pan to medium high heat and form with slightly wet hands little same size meatballs ( size of 1 tbsp). In the meanwhile cook your pasta, make sure to really season the water with salt (about 1 tsp of salt to 1 liter/4 cups of water). Add all your meatballs into your pan and cook them for about 8-9 min, till they have all a nice color all the way around. Once the meatballs are done, take them out and set them aside on a plate. Finely chop the rest of the onion and garlic, and add them with the remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil to the pan, were you cooked your meatballs. Sautée them for about 1 min. Add your basil and cinnamon and sautée for another min. Stir in your tomatoe paste,crushed tomatoes and 1/4 cup of pasta water and stir well. season with the pinch of sugar and salt & pepper to your taste and liking. Add you meatballs to the tomatoe sauce, let the cook on low heat for about 2 min. Open a meatball to see if they are cooked fully through. Drain the pasta, and add the pasta to your sauce and stir, until all is coverd with your leovely sauce. Voila the pasta is ready to serve. Serve with freshly gratetd parmesan cheese and some drizzel of olive oil.
PS: use chilli olive oil if you like to spice up you pasta!
