Classic Basil Pesto

This freshly made Pasta sauce is a classic, you can never go wrong with this easy recipe. The most important part is, to have high quality products, it’s the key to make a delicious  original Italian pesto.



What you need:

2 tbsp pine kernel

1.8 (50 gr.) ounce freshly grated pecorino or parmesan cheese

1.7 (40gr.) ounces of fresh basil leaves

1/2 tsp of fresh lemon juice

1/4 freshly grated lemon zest

1/4 black pepper

1/2 tsp sea salt

3 garlic clove, peeled and finley chopped

1/4 cup good quality native olive oil


Heat a flat pan and roast the pine kernels over medium-high heat, until the kernels are slightly brown. Make sure to have an eye on them while toasting them, they will burn really quick. In a blender add the pine kernels with all the rest of your ingredients. Blend away, until  you have an all smooth paste. Voila your Pesto is ready to use! To use it for pasta, leave your cooked hot pasta in the pan and over the turned off heat. Add you Pesto, stir and let it soak for about 2 min.


PS: Double this recipe to fill up a whole Jar.
